Prof Zhao was fabulous in the CSIS debate. Thanks for sharing. It is THE best talk (in the form of a debate) I've ever seen given by a Chinese scholar. He is a true scholar, unlike, frankly, his opponent. In a sense, it was an unfair debate where one side had to adhere to academic standards by virtue of his position, whereas the other was free to repackage propaganda soundbites which Prof Zhao politely characterised as US 'imagination'. But it's a reality we have to live with for now at least, that the circle is filled with pseudo-scholars who have been elevated by the interests behind all sort of think tanks, not by their scholarship.
