"not [squeezing] out foreign-funded enterprises from the Chinese market" would be huge as historically that is an important aspect of checking foreign competition in China. That Xi Jinping himself said this is even more huge. I wonder if this applies to all foreign-funded enterprises (i.e. even those from US + EU and those competing in critical industries) or just some.
Germany is an EU outlier in its level of partnership/cooperation with China – I'm talking about those western countries more overtly averse to Chinese partnership. Even if such pronouncements aren't new, I wonder if they will go beyond simple lip service sometime soon.
“Squeezing out foreign businesses” is not a national policy. But if the foreign biz itself becomes uncompetitive, the market force will play its role, and there is nobody going out of their way to save those foreign biz as well. This is exactly what is unfolding in the auto sector.

Actually it’s not a new term for China. It does applies to all foreign companies since Xi was talking to Bosch- a German company

I get it; for now, let’s wait and see whether there will be major reforms proposed during the Third Plenary Session this July
