The threat of limiting services imports from the US is substantial as it wisely strikes America's Achilles. It will put major fear in trump's FIRE industry buddies, especially those billionaires he appointed to his administration, and those like Blackrock and other Wall Street firms that project the power of the empire through financial monopoly and dominance. Expanded further it would limit exposure of American companies, universities and research institutions to the world's most innovative nation and its intellectual property.
“China’s attitude is clear. China’s Ministry of Commerce just made a statement saying that China firmly opposes US‘s threatening to impose a further 50% tariff. If the US escalates its tariff measures, China will resolutely take countermeasures to safeguard its own rights and interests.“
Can you explain #6 better? I don’t understand what this is threatening. Would Beijing stop enforcing IP protection for US firms? Or is this about US subsidiaries paying IP royalties to their parent companies to reduce tax liabilities ?

Thanks for asking; my understanding is the latter one.
